Driscoll Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Project Overview :

The Newark Bay Bridge is a steel through-arch bridge that is continuous across three spans over Newark Bay and provides access from the New Jersey Turnpike’s main roadway to Hudson County, New Jersey and the Holland Tunnel into Manhattan. The 1,270 foot long steel arch span (fourth longest in the world) has approaches of over 4,000 feet on either side, and reaches 135 feet above MHW. This three-year, $93 million renovation involved bridge deck reconstruction and miscellaneous structural, roadway and lighting improvements on the bridge and approach spans. Working closely with Ferreira Construction Company, Inc., Garden State provided horizontal and vertical control, as-built, deck cross-sections and layout survey services.
